GCSE Results 2018

GCSE Results 2018

Students and staff at St Peter’s are celebrating successes in this year’s GCSE results – despite national changes in this year’s GCSE results a number of our students have achieved the top; including 9s in English Language and History. Students are now looking forward to commencing their Post-16 studies at a range of providers across the area in September.

In the 2018 examination results subject highlights include English (with 62% 9-4) and continued high results in our vocational subjects such as Art (68% 9-4), Catering (76% 9-4), Film Studies (67% A*-C) and Music (100%.)

In addition to these subject highlights, there have been some outstanding individual performances including:

• Former Grangetown pupil Josh collected some of the top grades this year (on his birthday!) including a highly coveted 9 in English, an 8 in Science and 7s in History and Maths, Josh is looking forward to heading to Middlesbrough College to study A levels. Josh attributes his success to the facilities and support available to him saying that St Peter’s provides a wealth of support to students. He advises future students to “Work hard and stick with it!”

• Former St Margaret’s pupil Eve achieved 9 GCSEs including an 8 in Catering, 7s in History and English Literature and 6s in Science and English Language. Eve is looking forward to joining Prior Pursglove College to study A Levels in September. Eve says “Work hard it’s definitely worth it!” and says “The help and support at St Peter’s is amazing and staff are so dedicated to the students”.

• Alfie, also formerly of St Margaret’s, achieved a fantastic set of results today including a highly coveted 9 in History & 8 in English. Alfie also plans to study A Levels at Prior Pursglove College. He says “St Peter’s could not have done more to support me in achieving my very best,” and suggests all students at St Peters (including his twin sisters) “Put in as much effort as you can, and you will achieve.”

• Hassan, a former St Alphonsus pupil, achieved an A in Product Design and 6s in Art and RE. He is headed to Cleveland College of Art and Design to study Architecture. He attributes his success to his teachers at St Peter’s who care about every one of their students and go out of their way to support them “The school has been a massive help, both in class and outside of class.”

Overjoyed students, parents and staff celebrated the successes of the year group at St Peter’s and are looking forward to continued improvements as the years continue.

Headteacher, Zahida Hammond commented: “Congratulations to the class of 2018 in securing another set of pleasing results. I am extremely proud of what our students have achieved, the results are a testament of their determination, hard work and commitment, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank staff for their ongoing dedication to our students’ achievements. Being part of the St. Peter’s family, we look forward to supporting them all into their next phase of education and training”.

💜💜 Say Something Nice Day 💜💜

Say Something Nice Day 2026 was a wonderful opportunity for the St Peter’s community to spread kindness and positivity. Through simple words of encouragement and appreciation, our students helped make the day brighter for others and demonstrated the values that make St Peter’s such a special place.

💜🏭 Y10 Industry Day 2026 💜🏭

Today, our Year 10 students had an incredible opportunity to experience some of our local industries and businesses firsthand. The visit gave them valuable insight into the world of work and provided inspiration for their future career pathways.

A huge thank you to the staff who supported the trip and helped ensure that our students had such a positive and rewarding experience. We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to the five organisations that generously hosted and facilitated the day: Altrad, Cummins, Beyond Housing, Wood PLC and British Steel.

Well done to Year 10 for being so engaged, inquisitive, and responsive throughout the day. You represented the school brilliantly and made the most of this fantastic opportunity.
